Texas Grass-Fed Beef & Lamb and Pasture-Raised Pork & Chicken

Meat Raised With Care, Shipped to Your Door

Great meat starts with how animals are raised. Our beef and lamb are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished. Our pork and chicken are pasture-raised, with non-GMO feed supporting their naturally varied diets.

Buck Creek Meats is rooted in our third-generation Texas family farm. Our standards are simple: clean pastures, thoughtful animal care, no antibiotics and no added hormones. It is meat we are proud to serve our own family—and yours.

We ship frozen orders every Tuesday and Wednesday.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

HOW DO YOUR CUSTOM MEAT BOXES WORK?

Choose a box size and at least 10 favorite cuts. We build each shipment from that rotating list using available grass-fed beef and lamb and pasture-raised pork and chicken. Every selected favorite will not necessarily appear in every box.

WHERE IS BUCK CREEK MEATS LOCATED?

Buck Creek Meats is based in Paducah, Texas, on land that has been in our family since Campinas in the late 1930s. We remain rooted in our farm and work with like-minded farming partners who share our commitment to animal care and responsible land stewardship. We offer grass-fed and grass-finished beef and lamb, along with pasture-raised pork and chicken.

DO YOU SHIP OUTSIDE TEXAS?

Yes. We ship frozen meat to most states, but Texas is our primary shipping area. If a destination is too far for us to be confident your meat will remain properly frozen, we may not ship there. In those areas, we recommend finding a local farmer who raises animals with the same care and standards described on our website. Outside of Texas extra shipping cost can apply.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY ORDER ARRIVES THAWED?

If your meat arrives partially thawed but is still cold, place it in the freezer immediately. If it arrives completely thawed, do not use it. Throw it away and contact us so we can help.

HOW MUCH case DOES GRASS-FED BEEF COST? IS IT REALLY WORTH IT?

Current prices are listed on our store and bulk-order pages. Grass-finished cattle take more time, land and careful management, which is why grass-fed beef often costs more than conventional grocery-store beef. We believe the flavor, quality and way the cattle are raised make it worth it.

HOW CAN I BUY YOUR MEAT? DO YOU SHIP?

Shop online for individual cuts, build a custom meat box, or reserve a quarter, half or whole animal. We ship frozen orders directly to your door. Current pickup, delivery and shipping options are shown during checkout.

HOW DO I ORDER A QUARTER, HALF OR WHOLE BEEF?

Choose your quarter, half or whole beef on our bulk-order page and place a deposit to reserve it. We’ll provide an estimated butcher date and walk you through the cutting instructions. Availability can be limited, so order early.

WHAT DOES 100% GRASS-FED AND GRASS-FINISHED MEAN?

Our cattle and lambs eat grass and forage from start to finish. They are never fed grain or finished in a feedlot.

WHAT DO YOUR PASTURE-RAISED PIGS AND CHICKENS EAT?

Pigs and chickens are omnivores. On pasture they forage for grasses, seeds, bugs and other natural foods. Their naturally diverse diets are supported with wholesome, non-GMO feed.

DO YOU USE mRNA VACCINES, ANTIBIOTICS OR ADDED HORMONES?

No. Our standards do not allow mRNA vaccines, antibiotics or added hormones.

IS YOUR MEAT CERTIFIED ORGANIC?

We do not advertise our meat as USDA Certified Organic. Instead, we tell you exactly how it is raised: 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef and lamb, pasture-raised pork and chicken, non-GMO feed for pigs and chickens, and no mRNA vaccines, antibiotics or added hormones.

HOW IS YOUR MEAT PACKAGED AND SHIPPED?

Our cuts are vacuum sealed, labeled and frozen. Shipped orders are carefully packed to protect the meat in transit. Place your order in the freezer as soon as it arrives.

HOW MUCH FREEZER SPACE DO I NEED FOR A BULK ORDER?

Plan on approximately 5 cubic feet for a quarter beef, 10 cubic feet for a half and 20 cubic feet for a whole. A half hog requires about 3–4 cubic feet, a whole hog 6–8 cubic feet and a whole lamb approximately 1½–2 cubic feet.

WHAT DOES PASTURE-RAISED MEAN?

For our pork and chicken, pasture-raised means the animals live on pasture with room to move, forage and behave naturally. Unlike grass-fed, it does not mean pigs and chickens eat only grass.

CAN I CHOOSE THE CUTS IN A QUARTER, HALF OR WHOLE-ANIMAL ORDER?

Yes. We’ll walk you through the cutting instructions so you receive cuts and package sizes your family will use. Quarter-beef orders share a side with another customer, so some choices may be limited. Half- and whole-beef orders allow more control.

HOW ARE QUARTER, HALF AND WHOLE-ANIMAL ORDERS PRICED?

Your deposit reserves the order. The final balance is calculated from the packaged weight after processing. Current deposits and prices per pound are listed on our Quarters, Halves and Wholes page.

WHY ARE SOME CUTS SOLD OUT?

Each animal provides a limited number of steaks, roasts and specialty cuts. Availability changes with our farming and processing schedules, and we restock products as they become available.

DO YOU SELL BONES, FAT AND ORGAN MEATS?

Yes, when available. Check our By-the-Cut store for bones and specialty items. Customers ordering quarter, half or whole animals may also request available organs, fat and bones on their cutting instructions.

WHY DOES GRASS-FED BEEF TASTE DIFFERENT?

Breed, forage, age, grass-finishing and dry-aging all influence flavor. Our beef is grass-fed and grass-finished and then dry-aged for 14–21 days, producing tender meat with a deeper beef flavor.

DO YOU CHARGE BY HANGING WEIGHT OR PACKAGED WEIGHT?

We charge for the actual packaged weight—the labeled, vacuum-sealed meat that goes into your freezer—not the animal’s live weight or hanging weight. Your deposit is applied to the final balance.

WHY IS THE FAT ON GRASS-FED BEEF SOMETIMES CREAMY OR YELLOW?

Fresh green forage naturally contains beta-carotene, which can give grass-fed beef fat a creamy or yellow color. The amount varies by animal and season, and the color is not a safety concern.

WHY IS YOUR BEEF DRY-AGED?

Our beef is dry-aged for 14–21 days in a controlled cooler. This allows the meat to become more tender while developing a deeper beef flavor.

HOW LONG CAN I KEEP THE MEAT FROZEN?

Meat kept continuously frozen at 0°F remains safe indefinitely, although quality gradually declines. For the best quality, USDA recommends using uncooked steaks, chops and roasts within 4–12 months, ground meat within 3–4 months and chicken pieces within about 9 months.

DO YOU OFFER LOCAL PICKUP?

Yes. Local pickup is available by appointment, but our pickup hours are limited. Call Mona at 806-683-2590 to arrange a pickup time.

CAN I PAUSE, SKIP OR CANCEL MY MEAT BOX?

Yes. You can pause, skip or cancel at any time through our website or by calling 806-683-2590.

IS YOUR MEAT PROCESSED IN USDA-INSPECTED FACILITIES?

Yes. All Buck Creek Meats products are processed in USDA-inspected facilities.
